Martin DC16GTE - How good is it?

I have been playing one for five years now. one awesome guitar.

mine is mahogany back and sides.

I didnt like the too dark tone of rosewood...believe it or not, .

I went with this Martin because the neck fit my hand really well; I could nail notes and chords .

when I went shopping for my high end acoustic I looked at seven models and brands. I really didnt want a maretin.

trying all those guitars I keppt returning to the Martin.

the tone and neck were just what I wanted.

hey have a satin back and sides with a gorgeous gloss top.

everything about it is well made. not one flaw.

the Fishman sound system is really good and flexible.

oit has a piezo under the bridge and a mic in the body. with the Blender slide I can go between the two.

sometimes I play very percussively, so I blend away from the piezo a bit more.

if Im in a big room with other instruments I blend away from the mike end.

feedback isnt a problem as there are adjustments one can make on the control panel.

Ive gigged with this and it holds up well. the treble and bass eqs are effective.

I run it through my big Fender Viobrolux...it works but it isnt rigfht.

I can sdound good, but I believe an acoustic amp would make this guitar perform even better.

as I said, Ive had it a few years and it is opening up in a good way. the highs dont sound thin, yet they cut through and the bottom is nice and big...just the way I wanted (hence my taste for rosewood).

it is a great flatpicking guitar.

I can play fast and get in between the srings easily.

the neck is fast.

heard enough?

Yes, I envy you US citizens every day ;)

German VAT is about 16-17%, so there is the difference right away.

I chose between a OOO-16GT and D-16GT, and for some reason the OOO is around

Well, I've played about a dozen Martin 16-series guitars and only found one that I would call a dud. (And even that one was head and shoulders above many guitars in its price range.)

However, the best endorsment I can give you is that I bought a DC16RE aura with money I had been saving for a used Taylor 700 series. It was a nice, clean Taylor, but the 16RE won hands down. That's not a slam against Taylor. That's just how good the Martin was.

I just bought a DC16-RGTE Aura and coiuldn't be happier. It has rosewood back and sides but notwithstanding wood preferences, this model sounds great. Perfect acoustic guitar.
