Members Whalebot Posted September 20, 2006 Members Posted September 20, 2006 Guitars. And buying them but not playing them. I buy guitars quite a bit, only to return or sell them and then I rarely get the time to record or woodshed. I think that I'm avoiding actual nuts and bolts work. Just a rant.
Members t60 fan Posted September 20, 2006 Members Posted September 20, 2006 I've never actually sold a guitar. Given a few away, but never sold 'em.
Members tiger roach Posted September 20, 2006 Members Posted September 20, 2006 Well, that's easily fixed. Buy less, play more.If you're budget is being stretched like mine is, it just comes naturally.
Members AK47 Posted September 20, 2006 Members Posted September 20, 2006 I usually don't play as much as I should. The guitar that is inspiring me this week gets all the play and others just sit there getting neglected. What gets neglected the most is my recording equipment. I just never feel I have the time to record because I get so absorbed into it. New and different guitars are always calling my name but I remember all the neglected guitars that I have [i really love my neglectd guitars] and resist. Over the years I have given away, traded and sold many guitars. Many of which I've regreted later. I also know only I can fix this
Members theGOOCH Posted September 20, 2006 Members Posted September 20, 2006 I hate the idea of buying a guitar from a shop. I resent the whole concept of the super-inflated list prices and having to haggle to get a good price. It's like buying a %$#! car. Why can't they just have a reasonable list price and everyone sell it for roughly the same price like most items? Oh yeah, now I remember why. It's so you can rip off people who don't know any better.

My local shop knows I can get a guitar from other places at 40% off list, so when they quote me a price it's always 41-42% off list. They don't {censored} around, they give me the bottem line first thing. Whale, should'nt you be woodsheding? GET TO WORK!!

My point is I wouldn't have to if the industry were more honest. "Oh well we usually rip people off and sell it for $1500, but since you're smart we'll let it go for $900" .....that doesn't exactly fill me with confidence and goodwill about a business
Members Tony Burns Posted September 20, 2006 Members Posted September 20, 2006 My problems the opposite , when I buy something I really like i never get rid of it , Ive got those stupid things coming out of my ears - the older i get the more i realize-- i can only play one at a time -- I do get rid of the mediocre ones that I buy that seem lack luster , or the ones ive used in the past for playing out, but their usually stuff like low enders or Ovations -- I just wish i could devote more time to playing them - Its tough to balance everything when you have a family , everything becomes more important or unbalanced.

I was fracturing something trying to knit the burger and thread together. And, as long as we're on the subject, it wasn't a Zappa thing. Hey, Whalebot, quit buying stuff. I do appreciate it but I can't afford to go the distance. Play them. I should talk. I have a Larrivee that I'm divorcing soon for all the same reasons.
