Members KINNORDAVIYD Posted September 30, 2006 Members Posted September 30, 2006 Has anyone any information about the Johnson 12 String Guitar.I believe they call it the Songwriter Series. Its the only one that Johnson makes. I know its an inexpensive 12 String, but I'm looking for experience just the same.
Members Michael Martin Posted September 30, 2006 Members Posted September 30, 2006 I would say that the try-before-buy advice you always hear REALLY applies to 12s. I was 12-shopping a few years back and I was amazed at the differences--neck width, thickness, playability, tone--a more profound range of differences than I have found with sixes. I rarely "hate" a six that I pull down and play, but there were some 12s I did not like at all. And then there was one I adored, and bought--a used Tak F395. I've not seen or played the Johnson. But if you're going low-end for price, consider the used market too. I found a very playable Fender 12 at the local pawnshop recently--I think they were asking $150 and probably would have taken less.
