Members Michael Martin Posted September 28, 2006 Members Posted September 28, 2006 Absolutely magnificent. Pete is truly a phenomenon--if anything, more versatile a guitarist than he was 30 years ago. Doesn't leap as high, maybe, but talk about guitar drama...Roger has lost a bit of upper range but has all the power he ever had. Interestingly, he was playing an acoustic on a few songs. Couldn't tell what it was but it seemed to have a flamed maple top. It MAY have been a Gibson--I thought the headstock looked familiar--but have not seen that guitar before. It was not a dread or jumbo. When Pete switched from his Strats to acoustic, of course he played his J200s. The material was great. First time I'd heard the new mini-opera Wire and Glass--anxious to get ahold of it when it's released stateside. The old stuff was fantastic, all of it, every note of it. Those guys put it out there and they do not hold back anything. As Pete said as he walked offstage: "We did great, you did great...and it's all about you." Jeezus I love that guy. I sang along with every word (of the old stuff), as did many people around me. I was a complete lunatic, and a very happy one. They even played the My Generation/Sparks medley, similar to what's on Live at Leeds. I was in Who Heaven. The rest of the band also really strong. Pete's brother Simon on 2nd guitar and really powerful backup vocals; Pino Palladino doing a very fine "Ox" imitation (you shoulda heard him nailing that riff on My Generation!) Zak Starkey isn't Moon, but he's close enough most of the time. Rabbit still on keyboards, for some added textures...really tight ensemble playing by everyone, as if those 6 had been together forever. Go see 'em if they come your way. Worth every penny. Get a seat on the floor. Close to the stage. Unforgettable.
Members allthumz Posted September 28, 2006 Members Posted September 28, 2006 That is awesome. I saw a Who concert on cable over the summer. The lineup was the same that you saw. It was awesome. Pete played better than I have ever seen and Roger unleased everything he had. It was great. You saw it LIVE. Man! I wish I were you that night! - Robert
