Members Whalebot Posted October 2, 2006 Members Posted October 2, 2006 I'm in the mastering phase right now and adding little embellishments here and there. I'm using Garageband and let me tell you, it is a breeze. I'm not into that whole pro-logiedittrack.org.net thing with all the bells and whistles, I'm not f'ng U2 I don't need all of that stuff. No real point to the thread other than to let you all know that I'll be dropping this thing on October 14th. And yes, the 000-18, 000-17S, the old 000-15, the Epi Masterbilt, the A&L Folk, the OM-21 my Classical and a friends Ibenez Concord Dove all make guest appearances. My wife thinks that I should call the album "Guitars that I owned"
Members Cldplytkmn Posted October 2, 2006 Members Posted October 2, 2006 or just call it 'passing GAS'... ANYWAYS... i'll buy it... keep us posted.
Members guitarist21 Posted October 2, 2006 Members Posted October 2, 2006 I'd buy it too. Got a link, maybe? I'm not a bells and whistles kind of person. Especially with acoustic stuff. Maybe a little reverb for the vocals but even that seems a tad excessive sometimes. I use old-school Cakewalk Guitar Tracks 2 that I've had for several years and its great. Its just like using a four-track and that's perfect for me. Ellen

Members kwakatak Posted October 3, 2006 Members Posted October 3, 2006 Unless my memory is totally shot (which is probably true anyway) then this is the first I've heard of it. I think that's awesome that you're doing this! So tell us: what kind of material is on the album? Covers or originals? What styles will be featured? Any vocals?
Members carguy Posted October 3, 2006 Members Posted October 3, 2006 Are you using GarageBand on a Mac or a PC? Just curious.
Members d03nut Posted October 3, 2006 Members Posted October 3, 2006 Happy for you, hope it does "well". BTW, are they still being called "albums"? lol.....

Nope, your memory is fairly intact, at least on this subject. I may have mentioned it in passing. It is all original work w/ vocals. My stuff is very folky songwriter stuff, I hate listing influences, but James Taylor is one. I have been described as a "Quirky James Taylor Type" Actual quote. I let y'all know when it drops, It'll have a website. Thanks for the interest.

Members Whalebot Posted October 3, 2006 Author Members Posted October 3, 2006 Originally posted by JasmineTea Yeah, no kidding. What kind of mics are you using? Audio Technica Cardiod Condenser AT2020 And I have an SM57 and a 58 that I use for harp work.
Members Hudman Posted October 3, 2006 Members Posted October 3, 2006 Did you get a record deal or are you financing the the project?
Members Whalebot Posted October 3, 2006 Author Members Posted October 3, 2006 Originally posted by Hudman Did you get a record deal or are you financing the the project? I wish I had a record deal! My financing includes the purchase of an I-mac that we already needed to replace a PC and a couple of mics and mixers. I also have to buy some blank discs. Very low budget indie type stuff.
Members STEELSTRINGS Posted October 3, 2006 Members Posted October 3, 2006 Glad to hear it, I wish you well! My financing includes the purchase of an I-mac that we already needed to replace a PC and a couple of mics and mixers. I also have to buy some blank discs. Sounds familiar:)
Members Sweb Posted October 4, 2006 Members Posted October 4, 2006 Originally posted by d03nut BTW, are they still being called "albums"? lol..... LOL. I cringe when I hear myself say that word. Worse yet: "LP's"What were the buzz-words/sayings of that time? Boss, Neat, Cool, Groovy (hated it then too), Out-a-Sight (hated it even more), Bitchin' (no comment)...
Members Whalebot Posted October 4, 2006 Author Members Posted October 4, 2006 Maybe I should just call is a disc. Or a compilation of digital signals...I wonder what the next big thing will be, it was supposed to be mini-disc, looks now to be that the music will be released only to the web and mp3 players.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted October 4, 2006 Members Posted October 4, 2006 i actually prefer the term album... these days its all about digital downloads and ringtones... somebody asks "did you get such and such's new CD"... CD... its weird. I'd rather think of music as full albums and not a collection of singles.
