Members goatmeal Posted October 6, 2006 Members Posted October 6, 2006 A local shop has a Larrivee L03WL priced at $100US over the L03R. Since Larrivee doesn't have the walnut models listed on their website, I have no idea how much more is should cost (if any). Anyone know what the MSRP for the L03WL is? - gm
Members kwakatak Posted October 6, 2006 Members Posted October 6, 2006 From what I hear, the walnut/spruce L-03WL are a limited run so I'd guess that they're priced accordingly. Otherwise I have no idea how much they go for. You'd probably get a better answer from the folks hanging out over at www.larriveeforum.com. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
Members Cldplytkmn Posted October 6, 2006 Members Posted October 6, 2006 i would expect that to be about right actually... hmm... wonder if anybody local has one of those. I've never played a walnut guitar before...
Members Cldplytkmn Posted October 6, 2006 Members Posted October 6, 2006 i'm seeing 1549 as the list price... which is 200 above the list for the L03R... that puts you under 940ish street price...

That seems to fall within the acceptable range. Thanks! So where did you find this price? - gm

I've never played a walnut guitar before... I wasn't paying attention to the make or model when I picked it up, but it spoke to me on the first pluck. To me, the walnut is similar in tone to the rosewood, but just a bit more rosewoody. Whatever that means. What got my attention is the way the thing resonates when played lightly fingerstyle. I haven't felt that in a $1000 guitar before. The overtones I heard usually require a more aggressive touch. I'll go play it again today and report back. Hopefully I can make more sense than I already haven't. - gm
Members Cldplytkmn Posted October 6, 2006 Members Posted October 6, 2006 there's a guy who sells larrivee's online... a couple years ago he was actually sold more larrivee's than anybody else in the country... his name is dave his site is www.guitaradoptions.com... go cruise his guitars (he's got one of the walnuts) and if you want, give him a call to get his best price. He is pretty good about giving you 40% off list... but if your local place is pretty close on price, and you like it, i'd certainly say to get it local... good luck with it. the larrivee L is one of my favorite designs
Members Whalebot Posted October 6, 2006 Members Posted October 6, 2006 The walnuts are FANTASTIC! I played a few a mont ago, left me gassing
Members axe-to-grind Posted October 7, 2006 Members Posted October 7, 2006 Just picked up a L-03 WL for $999.oo CAN dollars. I am still amazed at the projection of this guitar. Just as loud as my D-03 Mahogany but much more balanced.
