Members bizilly Posted September 26, 2006 Members Posted September 26, 2006 Does anyone make a red white and blue acoustic guitar like the one Buck Owens played on Hee Haw? I think its a very sexy instrument.
Members WaveRay Posted September 26, 2006 Members Posted September 26, 2006 .....how do you feel about Buck?
Members daklander Posted September 26, 2006 Members Posted September 26, 2006 The first red, white and blue acoustics were from Sears. I don't know who now builds them but you can order them direct from buckowens.com.Seems to me it may be Washburn that builds them now but that's just something that's sticking in my mind and I can't say for sure.
Members guitarcapo Posted September 26, 2006 Members Posted September 26, 2006 I think the original model was a Harmony Sovereign Jumbo painted with a red white and blue stripe.

Members Queequeg Posted September 26, 2006 Members Posted September 26, 2006 my local shop here in Michigan has a Harmony for $129, if I'm not mistaken. http://herbdavidguitarstudio.com red, white & blue, just like the buckster's.and I hate to say it but for that kind of money it didnt look 1/2 bad.(author's discloure: not a big BO fan, myself)

Here's a picture of the prototype. It could certainly be a Harmony but was sold by Sears, starting in the '60s and looks more like a dreadnaught to me.

Man, $1,000 for a no-name guitar seems like a lot, the more so since there's no info at the site about the instrument's construction. I wonder: do people really buy these things without knowing anything about them (other than that they're red, white and blue)?

Members Queequeg Posted September 26, 2006 Members Posted September 26, 2006 what's in a name?looks like what sells as a 4 ought (0000) to me.but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
Members recordingtrack1 Posted September 27, 2006 Members Posted September 27, 2006 Give me some red, white and blue spray paints, some masking tape and a Esteban acoustic, any color will do, and you've got your guitar, no problem. RT:cool:
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted September 27, 2006 Members Posted September 27, 2006 I installed a Barcus-Berry Hot Dot in one of those, back in the 70's, and played it a little, for about a week (until the owner returned to claim it)...not a bad playing/sounding little Harmony Grand Concert-sized Sovereign. Nowdays, I often see them at Guitar Shows, usually in the $250-$400 range. The one @ buckowen.com looks to be the same as WallyWorld's First Act's $69.95 entry model!
Members guitarcapo Posted September 30, 2006 Members Posted September 30, 2006 S3219 - Buck Owens American Acoustic flatop - red, white, blue Red, white and blue "American Guitar"- "Grand Concert" size - sold through Sears catalog (1970 ?) - Compare to H180, H181, H1203 - There is a completely different modern asian-made re-issue yep...made by Harmony
Members JasmineTea Posted September 30, 2006 Members Posted September 30, 2006 I'd like to see one with a red white and blue target on it, GW's face right in the middle.
Members 69mlboo Posted October 11, 2006 Members Posted October 11, 2006 The original Buck Owens guitar which was used on the show was a custom built by Semie Moseley of Mosrite Guitars. Here are quotes from Buck Owens website. "In 1966 Buck and The Buckaroos had their instruments painted red, white and blue, an extension of Buck
