Members pfiddlepat Posted October 12, 2006 Members Posted October 12, 2006 Okay, i have a new idea for an instrument. I was on a backpacking/climbing trip last weekend, and wished i had an instrument with me, so i got this idea. Basically a neck of, probably, a tenor banjo, or mandolin, that clamps onto a cooking pot. The cooking pot works sort of like a banjo head/body/whatever its called, and resonates/whatever its called and makes it louder. Do you think this will work? The idea is a fairly lightweight, compact, and not breakable instrument. any ideas/suggestions? And i picked up banjo (sort of) last week. lots of fun. already transposed a bunch of fiddle/mandolin tunes over to the banjo!

I've heard of people making a banjo using a cookie tin for a pot. They also used a dowel type of neck for support. When it comes to home grown musical instruments the possibilities are endless. What is a banjo anyways except someone put a neck on a drum? Worked though.
