Members guitarist21 Posted October 15, 2006 Members Posted October 15, 2006 I'd say your "leeriness" is a sign. I'm highly suspicious. I'd stay away.
Members Sweb Posted October 15, 2006 Members Posted October 15, 2006 Not really. I've seen it and all it is is remembering the notes of each fret in reference to the low E string. There is a pattern of notes that is always the same. Look at any instructional book that illustrates the notes on a pictorial of the fretboard. You will notice there is a repeating pattern relative to the low E string. The product you reference is nothing more than that. It talks about the pattern and memory muscle by using those notes to create a story. Those notes are used as the first letter of a famous name (celebrity) in the story. The story is supposed to help you remember the pattern. Once you have the pattern fixed in your head you will be able to automatically recite each note of each string at a particular fret based upon the note of the Low E string for that fret. There is a "catch" that the product mentions relative to the shift occuring at the B string. So, you must also keep the shift in mind. The testimonials given on the download site for the product are pretty over-the-top, IMO, about the product. They really hype the product to be more than it is. Save your money and just find the pattern yourself and create your own "story" to remember it if you need to. Hope this helps.

Members ziganaut Posted October 17, 2006 Members Posted October 17, 2006 I laughed so hard at this so-called method after I downloaded the thing for free. It is basically a mnemonic(?) device to help you memorize the notes on the fretboard. Their claims are so over the top it's ridiculous and in no way is it worth the asking price. So here's a link to try it outhttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=IFI6P76H

Here is the Buzz Feiten Tuning System which is reported to make a guitar sound more in tune everywhere on the neck. It's a bit expensive because a luthier has to do it and you need to buy a special tuner with Buzz Feiten offsets. http://www.buzzfeiten.com/ Here is cheaper, do-it-yourself solution which is a lot like the BF system with tuning offsets and everything. You can purchase just the tuning offsets or just the nut. I think you can get both for as little as $15.Enut The Earvana nut is a compensated nut which compensates each string a bit differently. It does not require special tuning offsets to tune the guitar. However, a very acurate tuner like a strobe is always desired when setting intonation wich you will have to do once installing any of the compensating nuts I have mentioned. Earvana nuts come stock on ESP guitars. Some people complain that the soft material Earvana nuts are made out of is bad for tone.http://www.earvana.com/ Here is a how-to-guide on making your own bone nut which compensates each string. The information is free although the site does ask for a donation to the authors favorite charity.http://www.mimf.com/nutcomp/
