Members Whalebot Posted October 19, 2006 Members Posted October 19, 2006 Stings new album. He plays a Lute. I really like it. It was featured on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip this week. I'm becoming one of those people who buys the crap that they play during montages in TV shows. Shoot me if I get a Grey's Anatomy compilation. Allthough both the Gilmore Girls and How I met your Mother featured songs by the Decemberists this week. Rock on.

Members Cldplytkmn Posted October 19, 2006 Members Posted October 19, 2006 i just happened to catch the show... its pretty good, so don't beat yourself up too bad... a coworker of mine told me he saw a thing on tv with sting at his house (ahem, castle) and they played a few pieces on the lute... the next day... voila.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted October 19, 2006 Members Posted October 19, 2006 you can get the clip on nbc.com... go to the show page, and you can watch the whole episode... the song is in part five...
Members Michael Martin Posted October 19, 2006 Members Posted October 19, 2006 160p? Not much loot for a lute. Good luck...
Members Stackabones Posted October 20, 2006 Members Posted October 20, 2006 GAS. Lark in the Morning has a "basic lute" for about the same price as an Epi Masterbilt. I saw one on ebay for a little less. Everything else has been a couple of grand! In the meantime, I ordered Sting's CD. When I ordered, it was #2 on amazon's sales. That version he did of "Fields of Gold" on the show was pretty cool. I wonder if Dowland was an influence on "Fields" when Sting wrote it?
Members guitarist21 Posted October 20, 2006 Members Posted October 20, 2006 Prithee... I don't really have anything to add in this thread. I just wanted to say "prithee."
Members Tony Burns Posted October 20, 2006 Members Posted October 20, 2006 Sting takes what ever hes doing to the next level - just wish more musicians did that.
