Members vteckid22 Posted October 26, 2006 Members Posted October 26, 2006 Hey everyone! Im just wondering what some good songs to play on acoustic are. I might be playing open mic at a local pub/club/bar in a few weeks and im totally stumped on what to play...I hear im allowed up to 3 songs to play, so hit me with some suggestions! Thanks everyone!
Members bigby Posted October 26, 2006 Members Posted October 26, 2006 I noticed you're up in Canada, some I'm sure The Tragically Hip should go off well, and they have some good acoustic songs. A few I'd recommend are Wheat Kings, Ahead By a Century or Fiddler's Green.
Members riknofx Posted October 26, 2006 Members Posted October 26, 2006 Depending on you're style pref. I like to hit a couple classic neil young or bowie song's(needle, hurricane, hey hey, my my/ space odd, man who sold, or ziggy.) Also some jimi-angel, bold as love, can be arranged and pulled of. lately we duo'ed comfortably numb and a floyd meddle of the wall and animal's that was really cool. If classic rock is'nt you're thing maybe pull some Jar of Flie's era Alice In Chain's, select Nirvana, or Sublime. I like doin' some Dave Mathew's number's too. Good luckRick
Members martingibson70 Posted October 27, 2006 Members Posted October 27, 2006 Almost anything can be played acoustically. Don't limit yourself to just "acoustic" music. I've gotten great responses from Tie Your Mother Down/Queen, Crazy Train/Ozzy, and anything short of Eruption. I tend to go out of my way to avoid "acousticy" songs when I perform acoustically. I'd rather try to pull off some Rick Derringer or ZZ Top. ...at least you won't be delegated as background noise like so many performers in those types of places.
