i thought this was the closest related subject so i was curious to see if anyone knows any links to banjo tabs and how to setup and tune a banjo.. thanks

If its a 5-string banjo, the beginner tuning is usually gDGBD, with the little g (the string that starts at the 5th fret) an octave above the middle G. There are a lot of other tunings, but that's the "standard", if there is one.

 

I haven't found a great site on banjo playing, but your library probably has a few decent books. Make sure you're getting what your looking for, though: if you want to play bluegrass, get a bluegrass book.

There are quite a few tabs available at http://www.banjohangout.org , though many have been removed in recent months due to copyright issues. In general the site's forum is a great resource for any questions related to banjo playing, setup, etc.
