Members pjc Posted October 30, 2006 Members Posted October 30, 2006 Anyone around here have one?? If so, would you mind giving me a quote? Please. If so, please PM me. The deal is I'm looking to get my first "real" acoustic and want to make sure the asking price is in the ballpark....I think it is, but there's not much out there to compare with (ebay, etc.) THanks.
Members Hudman Posted October 30, 2006 Members Posted October 30, 2006 The only tool I know of is the "completed listings" on Ebay. It gives you a good idea of how much you should pay for most popular used guitars. I'm willing to bet that Ebay is the largest used guitar selling source in the world. Sorry, that's the only resource I know of.

Yeah, I checked the completed listings but there's nothing that's close enough (as in the year made and type of woods used) to compare with for this particular brand/model.
Members Freeman Keller Posted October 31, 2006 Members Posted October 31, 2006 I don't have any of the price reference books but it was interesting that when an antique dealer priced an estate sale for my folks she did use Ebay as a reference. There is a guitar blue book cd for about $30 bucks - if you are really concerned about price you might want to get it. If it is a vintage or collectable (Martin, Gibson, National, etc) you can probably get a pretty good price on the forum for that brand (UMGF for Martin), as well as the Vintage Guitar Guy http://www.provide.net/~cfh/index.html You might be able to find a reference in the HC Reviews. Usually will list the price paid http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar Also, most pawn shops have a current pricing book for everything - maybe you could find one that would help you.

Thanks Freeman! The first place I went to when I started looking was Ebay, followed by several of the acoustic guitar forums, then gbase and other dealers with used inventory...and then the HC reviews. Haven't checked any pawn shops but I think they rely heavily on ebay for pricing as well. The info I've gleaned from all those places has helped somewhat in that I think the price is in the ballpark, but if possible I'd just like to get a little more info under my belt b/f making an offer. Thanks.
