Members bbarkow Posted October 31, 2006 Members Posted October 31, 2006 Has anyone tried one since they did the redesign? I like the new features (such as a dual 9 band EQ on the largest model) - but I always buy the cheap stuff and I'm always disappointed. If anybody has tried one, I'd be interested to hear your impressions.
Members Stackabones Posted October 31, 2006 Members Posted October 31, 2006 Haven't tried it, but I've noticed a trend around here: stick with either bass amps or PAs for acoustic guitars. At most of my gigs lately, I've ran my acoustic (nylon) through the house PA and been very satisfied. At rehearsal, using the same guitar, I run through our practice space's PA and again I love the sound. Well defined, good basses, crisp trebles. Vocals definitely sound better (duh!) through the PA than any acoustic amp I've tried.
Members bbarkow Posted October 31, 2006 Author Members Posted October 31, 2006 PA would be my choice too, but I'm scared of any PA equipment I could actually afford (i.e. Kustom, SoundChoice, etc.). Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Needs to be small and light, sound decent and be dirt cheap. How's that for a tall order?!?!
Members guit30 Posted October 31, 2006 Members Posted October 31, 2006 I tried a bass amp when we couldn't get my PA channel to work one night and it didn't sound good. Haven't tried Behringer amps though I do have a nice Behr preamp Jim
Members Cldplytkmn Posted October 31, 2006 Members Posted October 31, 2006 i don't think you need to go for a full blown PA, but check out some powered floor monitors... you'll most likely need a preamp cause most of them just have volume adjustments. I've got one that was a couple hundred bucks and it sounds good and is LOUD...
Members Blackwatch Posted November 1, 2006 Members Posted November 1, 2006 I don't know about the new ones but I use an Older Berhinger sometimes as a practice PA when I don't want to lug my PA somewhere. It sounds OK, and does the job. But I've been fairly happy with it's performance overall. And I usually buy cheap...and overall have been happy. At least when something cheap goes TU your expectations aren't that high......
