Members jerime Posted October 31, 2006 Members Posted October 31, 2006 I'm using some Everly bronze strings right now and I can't say I care that much for them. I guess what I'm really looking for is something not quite so bright sounding??? I used some kind of hybrid nylon strings quite a while ago and really liked them (can't think exactly what they were). I guess I want less twang and more pluck sound. Any suggestions?

Members jerime Posted October 31, 2006 Author Members Posted October 31, 2006 Well steel, but to sound more like nylon. I don't know if that makes any sense.
Members DeepEnd Posted October 31, 2006 Members Posted October 31, 2006 d'Addario, Martin, and GHS all make "silk and steel" strings (I'm sure they're available from other makers). I haven't tried them but they sound like what you might want.
Members tiger roach Posted October 31, 2006 Members Posted October 31, 2006 I find Martins "SP Fingerstyle" strings to have less of that excess brightness when they are new.
Members riknofx Posted November 1, 2006 Members Posted November 1, 2006 Hey, I just went to Dean Markley Alchemy's Goldphos. They are perfect for me(so far), but on the $pricey side. They are coated but so far(a little over a week) have none of that elixir goo peel.(thank-fully). They also seem a little more mellow witch may suit what you're lookin' for.
