Members WaveRay Posted November 1, 2006 Members Posted November 1, 2006 I received the guitar about 1:30p today. Since it's been in the area overnight and the temps are good today, I wasted no time unpacking it. It is what I wanted and, aside from some smudges and fingerprints, is in pretty good shape. I took it up to introduce it to the luthier I use and have him check it over for me. He said the action was a little high and thought it might have been subjected to over-humidification. Who knows what the hell it went through, atmopherically wise in the last two day? We decided to give it some time at the house. I keep an eye on the humidty in the house and perhaps the action will come down after a few days. Other than that, the guitar was in fine, fine shape and was complimented on it's looks and it's sound. Dave (the luthier) said he liked hog guitars.Anyway. The guitar is sweet, powerful, and balanced. I believe this guitar will be played as much as the HD-28V. Maybe more. I think it will have a better sound for a lot of what I play that isn't bluegrass or country related. Jimmy Buffett already sounds nice on it. (don't tell Jimmy I play any of his stuff, ihateyouguys might sue me) I will send a few pics when I can get it in better light for photography.I'm still not sure about the brass bridge pins. The guitar sounds great now so I know they're not bad. I'll give it some thought but I will probably put the ebony ones back in at some point to A/B them and see if I can determine what the difference is. I am a very happy kinda guy right now. You all know the feeling. You'll have to excuse me, now. I have a George calling me. Ray

Members Freeman Keller Posted November 1, 2006 Members Posted November 1, 2006 so why are you wasting time at your computer. Take it out and play with it. And take some pics (or a clip) and post them when you come back to the keyboard btw - great call on letting it stabilize before opening the box, particularly as we get on towards winter.
Members Sweb Posted November 1, 2006 Members Posted November 1, 2006 Euphoria takes another good man. Somehow I just don't envision you looking backwards at a Seagull any time soon. Congratulations. Now I have to see and hear what that guitar is all about. I bought the Sibelius Student software so I'll be expecting sound clips real soon.

Members JasmineTea Posted November 1, 2006 Members Posted November 1, 2006 Wave, congrats. If it's as good as the one I played...wow.

Members knockwood Posted November 2, 2006 Members Posted November 2, 2006 Congratulations on your new guitar! I've never been within arm's reach of that model, which is just as well... I'm sure I'd involuntarily try to run out fo the store with it - as you do - and I don't run very fast. I've ogled the model online several times, though, and I think it is one of the nicest-looking guitars in Martin's lineup.
Members d03nut Posted November 2, 2006 Members Posted November 2, 2006 I'd like to thank all my friends at the HCAG, my family, all those who have believed in me throughout the years. See ya. But Wave, where you goin'? Wave? Argh, he's "waving" goodbye...........
Members WaveRay Posted November 2, 2006 Author Members Posted November 2, 2006 Thanks for all the well wishes, folks. I really appreciate you wanting to see the git. However, I am back on the road this morning and don't know when I'll be able to get some photos taken before the weekend. I'll do it as soon as I can, though. It is a very beautiful looing AND sounding guitar. I've never owned a guitar before that absolutly begs you to put the pick down. A number of times already, I've realized I was simply strumming an open string and just listening to it ring. The sustain is magnificent and the low end reverberates forever through the room. Not at all boomy like my dread, but smooth as Perry Como.I am one lucky guy. I only hope I can learn to play as well as these instruments I have deserve to be played. Thanks, again. Ray
