Members bsman Posted November 1, 2006 Members Posted November 1, 2006 They are advertised as "treated" rather than coated, and seem to be more expensive than Elixers or EXPs and the like. The ads also seem to claim that they last practically forever. Do they last longer? Do they feel more natural than other coated strings? How long do they last? Anybody?
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted November 1, 2006 Members Posted November 1, 2006 No idea..I plan to try 'em out one of these days, though.

The coating is only 1 micron but the strings are coated.
Members NuclearAttacker Posted November 4, 2006 Members Posted November 4, 2006 Hey man, I've tried the Cleartone strings. They were by far the worst strings I've ever played on. They felt completely rubbery and loose, kind of like a nylon string. I got them for free, and still felt ripped off. I threw out the three other packs. I've been Gibson Vintage Reissue strings for a while now...I swear by them. Hope this helped. Alex

Yeah, "treated" = euphemism for "coated". Reminds me of how lots of stuff on cars used to be "optional" (clearly indicating it wasn't standard), but now is "available", which muddies up the waters but means the same thing as optional.
Members EvilTwin Posted November 4, 2006 Members Posted November 4, 2006 They are definitely something you'll either love or hate, just like any other coated string. But they sound better than Elixers to me, and a set on one of my guitars has lasted for months. That's saying something, considering I have very acidic sweat. Also, I think they coat all of their strings, including the high B and E. If you don't want to pay for 'em to try them, just go try out a new Larrivee.
