Members Terry Allan Hall Posted November 3, 2006 Members Posted November 3, 2006 I recently decided to see just how long my Crate Taxi will run off it's internal battery, so I plugged a radio into it it and am waiting to see how long it'll take... Running at about 1/4 of the volume potential, with the EQ flat, it's been a little over 27 hours! Now, I recently had it put in the shop and I'm pretty sure that the battery was replaced at that point, but I was under the impression that it was replaced w/ the same exact battery model...might a radio use up that much less juice than a mic or guitar? Think I'll call Crate and see what they think!
Members guit30 Posted November 3, 2006 Members Posted November 3, 2006 Terry, I would think that a radio would use a lot less power than a guitar or micJim
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted November 3, 2006 Author Members Posted November 3, 2006 Quite possibly, but still...here it is 2-3 hours later and it's still going...according to Crate's website, at "low" it should last 8 hours. Heckova battery!
Members bsman Posted November 3, 2006 Members Posted November 3, 2006 I've never managed to run mine down, and I've done vocals and guitar for up to four hours. I crapped out well before the battery - and the thing was used when I bought it!

Just called my repair guy...he said that he replaced it w/ a generic 12v, 7.9amp battery like you can by pretty much anywhere, and he, too, is amazed by how long this thing has been running w/o going dead... Maybe I should start a new religeon... Seriously, I think I'm going to have him install the exact same battery into my Pignose "Hog 30" bass amp...it's always running out of power at campfire festival jams.
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted November 4, 2006 Author Members Posted November 4, 2006 Well, folks, it "officially" lost enough power to start disorting the tone at 34 hours, and now I'm recharging the battery... DEFINITELY going to have the same brand/model of battery put in my "Hog 30"...I bought it used, too, and it's battery only seems to last a couple of hours before needing a recharge, so if a new battery can last anywhere as long as the Taxi's does, that'd be sweet!
