Members cacheek Posted November 8, 2006 Members Posted November 8, 2006 Hi! I'm considering placing a Dobro on ebay, but I'm not sure how much I could get for it. It's a 1995 pre-Gibson Dobro Dobro (yes, I meant to put both words here). It's mint condition with original case. It's the wooden type (I'm a noob with acoustics) with the aluminum resonator. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Members Freeman Keller Posted November 8, 2006 Members Posted November 8, 2006 Which model exactly? Many of the 1995 models are still in production today - you should be able to get the current list price. I usually figure that a used guitar is worth no more than 50 percent of the list price, less as condition deteriorated. For example, my 1980 Type 33 Dobro is currently somewhere around $2500, I paid $1000 for it 15 years or so ago, and I've had an offer of that much last year. As an aside, the model number of the old 'bros was their price back in the 30's. In other words my old Type 27 sold for 27 bucks when it was new. How things change....
