and very eager to hear your impressions, since I was GASsing for a Gibby but they have been getting knocked pretty badly for QC.

I recorded with the guitar today once i have the song mixed i will post it. Overall the guitar is amazing. But first thing i did was to replace the saddle with a real bone and man the change was from earth to moon and back. It has well balance acustic sound. Plugged sounds just like any piezo sound but with a better tone than the less expensive instruments. A little to bassy for my taste but i can control that very easy. To use live i will buy one of those sound hole covers in order to avoid feedback. The costruction us flawless and just perfect.

I am more than happy with the instrument. Exelent choise i did.

I put a bone saddle on my Gibson Sheryl Crow model and it sucked all of the warmth and soul right out of it. The bone brightened it up way too much and I could not stand it so I put the Tusq saddle back and all was well again. Some folks think that all guitars need bone and it's simply not true. Bone works with some and not for others... same with the nut.

I felt in terms of sustain the bone work a lot better. The back is rosewood so the tone is a little more dark than a mahogany or maple.

You hear that a lot on forums, but it can't be coming from anyone who has played new Gibsons over the past few years. Their consistency and QC is as good as anyone's. In fact, I believe they are building the best sounding and most consistent acoustics in their price range.

A few months ago, I went out shopping for a Martin ... and several weeks later, it was a Gibson AJ that I found irresistable ...

I picked up that same exact model about a year ago, and I love it as much today as I ever did. I have found nothing I do not like about mine. For me it has eliminated acoustic GAS.

I think you made an excellent choice, enjoy it!

Agreed, they don;t deserve all the knocking they get...

But, as for consistency, Taylor and Martin have that edge, IMHO.

Of all the high end duds I've played recently, the majority have been Gibsons. Then again, I've played a few that got the GAS flaring up...

I still say they may have more consistency problems than the other top 2...

I had a friend once who bought a Gibson. He was walking home with it a few minutes after the purchase when he was eaten by a bear. Man, that was a nice guitar.

Where were the lions? Did the bear eat them too!!!???

I'd better not play any more Gibsons... Or I should just not be your friend, haven't decided yet, which is safer...

Good thing he didn't put Elixirs on it or he'd have been attacked by lions that live in the subway in addition to being attacked by the bear.
