The Gibby L1 is one of the most beautiful body styles I can think of.

I love the reissues too, the Robert Johnson model.

But the RIs are $2500 at the discount price.

Does anyone know of a guitar similar to this in design? Is there a less expensive Epiphone version or anything?

I don't know that this is a standard body style, though it was used for similar Gibsons I think (the L3 is like this but an archtop I believe...)

I really like smaller guitars and play mostly fingerstyle. I'm not as concerned about brand name, etc., but I sure would like to find something similar to this at about 1/5th the price.

One company I've been lookin at is Crafter. They look the part but sound is suspect on the reviewed models. I beleive the one I'm looking at is the TA-50. It's got a slot head and perfect parlor body. Under three bills too(used). Thats the most affordable I've seen. They really look great but if they sound like toyz then might as well save for a masterbuilt or better. If anyone has one or played one please post cause It's gettin gassy over here. Check these and let me know what you think.

I believe the L1 has a 12th fret neck joint. The EL-00 has a 14th fret neck joint. This effects bridge placement and ultimately the sound. This is not saying that they might both sound good. Just a bit different.

True enough but the Gibson L1 Robert Johnson sells for in excess of $2200 (Music123.com has it for $2249 with shipping and a hard case) whereas Muddslide specifically mentioned ". . . something similar to this at about 1/5th the price." Frankly, he's probably not going to find anything closer at that price. Other than that, if he likes the whole vintage thing, he could check out Blueridge.
