Members wabcol Posted November 30, 2006 Members Posted November 30, 2006 I use the Mama Bear with an Ovation 1861 (shallow body) and a Strawberry Blonde amp. I could not be more pleased with the results. The Mama Bear has different target instruments, some of which are better than others, and one or more of them, if your experience is the same as mine, will bring out the best tones in your particular guitar when amplified. I can notice some major tonal differences generally between the small body target models and the jumbo/dread target models though not a huge difference within the several target models of the same category. I realize many here do not appreciate Ovations, but the Mama really tames the quack without loosing the Ovation sound which I do enjoy. It is neat with a flick of a switch to go from a full sounding jumbo for a heavy strumming song to a clearly articulated voice for a finger picking song without changing guitars. I hope you enjoy your Mama Bear as much as I do mine.
