Lapatrie is affiliated with Godin right? I believe they also have a few more guitar companies as well... I just can't remember which ones.

Anybody know?

Godin, Seagull, Art & Lutherie, Simon & Patrick, Norman, and LaPatrie are all part of the "Godin Family".

Also, not coincidentally, all are amazing guitars.

I owned a Seagull M6 Gloss once. That was a DAMN fine guitar. How do they make their guitars for so cheap? Are the French Canadians a source of cheap labor or something? Do the normal Canadians confuse them with complex English or something?

They sure do make quality instruments. Never played one that sucked.

Some had finish flaws, but played like butter... they're acoustics are especially great as well.

Coincidently enough, my Seagull was even the best smelling guitar I've owned. It had a fresh forest scent.

^ that's weird about acoustic smells... my old (well only about 7-8yrs) washburn has kept it's wonderful odour ever since I got her.... everytime I take her out of the case, it brings back great memories... after all she was my first guitar... and she did help me lose my virginty back in highschool.

I have a La Patrie Etude model (red cedar top , mohogany side, back, neck) and it's great. The finish is just an oil finish and I find it's tone is more bell-like (with nice harmonics) than the more expensive classicals with thick protective finsihes.

Mine was a demo too so I got it for less than $280 almost 10 years ago now (wow)
