I recommend you play as many guitars at GC as you can and choose the one you like the best. So much depends one how you like the sound and feel of the guitar, that it's best if you just look and see what strikes you.

most guitars are twice the price in england :( , i am fortunate enough to visit the states often though, all my gear is from the states including my amp :)

get an alvarez guitar. alvarez acoustics are great for the price.

if you're an electric player who uses lighter strings, you might wanna purchase a set or two of D'Addario EXP phosphor bronze extra light strings. they're 10-47

I agree with two posts:
1) Play a bunch and choose what feels/sounds best.
2) If you really need guidance: I like Alvarez a lot for the price. Try a few out, though...there's always a "pick of the litter", there.

At the risk of sounding like a brain-dead neo-con....Ditto! :thu:

Parkwood - No question about it. You should be able to get one between $399 and $499. They are made by Cort exclusively for Guitar Center. Solid wood construction and they come with a case.

Very nice guitar for the money.

The Epiphone Masterbilts are great too, but they run a little bit more.

I agree on the Parkwood. If you have to buy from GC, you need to consider this proprietary brand made by Cort. All solid wood and well crafted. Bought a spruce over flamed maple jumbo a couple weeks ago for less than $500, including a very high quality custom gig bag. Incredible tone.

This is undoubtedly the best acoustic guitar value I have encountered.

This is probably too late but much as I love Ibanez don't get any of the ExoticWood models. They're made primarily to look cool. Sound will be second rate with that laminated ash top. If you like that body style and you can afford $500 or so, look at the Takamine EG460SC.

I AGREE WITH THE TRY IT OUT, AND I WILL ADD, CHECK ALL THE ADJUSTMENTS... OVATION SUPER SHALLOW BODYS ARE GREAT!
