Members rakester Posted December 22, 2006 Members Posted December 22, 2006 hey, i need to buy an acoustic, it will have to be from guitar center as i am flying back to englang. i was thinking http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/product?full_sku=512118%2e010 ? i have around 400 to spend and i could stretch a little bit more, but what could you reccomend and it has to be from guitar center (it is my only choice since i am am on holiday and gear is a lot cheaper out here) ...
Members drnihili Posted December 22, 2006 Members Posted December 22, 2006 I recommend you play as many guitars at GC as you can and choose the one you like the best. So much depends one how you like the sound and feel of the guitar, that it's best if you just look and see what strikes you.
Members 59refin Posted December 22, 2006 Members Posted December 22, 2006 Do they charge a lot more for Ibanez in England? Couldn't you just get an axe back in Merry Old. Where's the fire, dude?
Members rakester Posted December 22, 2006 Author Members Posted December 22, 2006 most guitars are twice the price in england , i am fortunate enough to visit the states often though, all my gear is from the states including my amp
Members jjang1993 Posted December 22, 2006 Members Posted December 22, 2006 get an alvarez guitar. alvarez acoustics are great for the price. if you're an electric player who uses lighter strings, you might wanna purchase a set or two of D'Addario EXP phosphor bronze extra light strings. they're 10-47
Members guitapick Posted December 22, 2006 Members Posted December 22, 2006 I agree with two posts: 1) Play a bunch and choose what feels/sounds best. 2) If you really need guidance: I like Alvarez a lot for the price. Try a few out, though...there's always a "pick of the litter", there.

Members Hudman Posted December 22, 2006 Members Posted December 22, 2006 Parkwood - No question about it. You should be able to get one between $399 and $499. They are made by Cort exclusively for Guitar Center. Solid wood construction and they come with a case. Very nice guitar for the money. The Epiphone Masterbilts are great too, but they run a little bit more.

If you have to buy from GC, you need to consider this proprietary brand made by Cort. All solid wood and well crafted. Bought a spruce over flamed maple jumbo a couple weeks ago for less than $500, including a very high quality custom gig bag. Incredible tone. This is undoubtedly the best acoustic guitar value I have encountered.
Members DeepEnd Posted December 22, 2006 Members Posted December 22, 2006 This is probably too late but much as I love Ibanez don't get any of the ExoticWood models. They're made primarily to look cool. Sound will be second rate with that laminated ash top. If you like that body style and you can afford $500 or so, look at the Takamine EG460SC.
Members JohnnyX Posted December 23, 2006 Members Posted December 23, 2006 DONT THEY CHARGE U TO GET ACROSS THE BORDERS? LIKE CANADA? I AGREE WITH THE TRY IT OUT, AND I WILL ADD, CHECK ALL THE ADJUSTMENTS... OVATION SUPER SHALLOW BODYS ARE GREAT!
Members rakester Posted December 23, 2006 Author Members Posted December 23, 2006 hey I bought an ovation, super nice but i'm not playing it again until xmas. I'm back in england now and i did not get charged for taking it back to the UK, i took it on as hand luggage on the plane
Members Veee number 2 Posted December 23, 2006 Members Posted December 23, 2006 $400 to spend - I would check out Seagulls - best under $500 dollar acoustic guitar out there IMHO.
