Members fitness1 Posted December 24, 2006 Members Posted December 24, 2006 ***SALE PENDING**** I have a '97 Larrivee C-09 available......guitar and case are VERY near mint except for two minor issues. The C model is the same body size as the L but with a Florentine or sharp cutaway....this is no longer available. There is a 2 inch finish only crack in the top that runs from the binding on the lower bout (near the enpin area) just off the center seam towards the bridge (see pic) and a ding on the edge of the florentine cutaway (I'll get a pic tomorrow when the light is better). The finish crack is barely visible in normal lighting....you have to get it on an angle in bright, natural light before it stands out (this is the way I took the picture) I also overcontrasted it in photoshop to get it to stand out more. The instrument has a Fishman UST installed.....it sounds quite balanced with no overpowering strings. It has an internal preamp/battery, so no holes cut. The woods are very nice.....Larrivee normally uses Sitka for the top, I can't be sure this one is as it seems to have some visual qualities that resemble Englemann which they used intermittently during this era. I will check with them after the Holiday if necessary to confirm. Other than the above mentioned imperfections, there is really nothing to mention. There is NO fret wear, in fact, it appears someone had the fret ends filed smooth as Larrivee is famous for sharp fret ends....no such thing on this one!! The nut width is 1 11/16. Normally this would be too narrow for me, but I've had little trouble with it....I'm actually getting fewer "zingers" than I was with my old standby Taylor 512 with a 1 3/4. It almost seems to have a little less fretboard radius than most Larrivees, which could have something to do with making it play better for someone who normally likes wider nuts. The string spacing at the nut is JUST shy of 1 1/2" (normally 1 11/16 nut is 1 7/16), so the previous owner must have had a new nut cut at some point. As far as tone, I would say it's well above average for a Larrivee rosewood L. I've owned several -09's and -10's and it's as nice as any and better than most. I've always liked the older Vancouver Larrivee's better before they started building so many guitars. I just cleaned and conditioned the fingerboard and bridge, buffed out the body and polished it and put a new set of Pearse phosphors on it. When you open the case you will think it's new. ***price drop to 1050 shipped*** 1075 shipped to the lower 48 (add 25 for paypal and I'll eat the rest) I won't be able to get it out until mid week next week, but I thought I'd post it now in case someone was interested. I have a few pics now, but I'll get more up tomorrow. email at fitstop@charter.net
Members fitness1 Posted December 24, 2006 Author Members Posted December 24, 2006 I thought I had a buyer, but it's still available..... to sweeten the deal a bit, I'll throw in a Damp-it humidifier, the last 11 issues of Acoustic Guitar magazine and Arlen Roth's "Complete Acoustic Guitar" I'm selling this to put a deposit on a custom Kragenbrink. Here are a couple more pictures.... and a couple of the ding on the point of the cutaway....it appears it took a bump on the outside here...the mark is about 1.5mm in diameter and broke the finish on the other side here.....this mark is about 2.5mm across. I'm pretty sure a good tech could do something with it if you chose to....
