Members Dan Hall Posted December 30, 2006 Members Posted December 30, 2006 Greetings All:I've pretty much always preferred a Mahogany body tonally. It seems fuller, with more air and a bit of sparkle or shimmer to it. I'm not as familiar with Rosewood, though I've played some Dreads and 000 sized roses and always go back to the Hog. Now, today you can get all sorts of body woods that were pretty much unheard of back in the 60's when I covered all those folk and acoustic blues songs. Who can describe, relative to mahogany, the tonal properties of the exotics like:Australian BlackwoodKoaMapleOr any others you can think of Thanks in advanceDan
Members guitarist21 Posted December 30, 2006 Members Posted December 30, 2006 Hey Dan, You might find this article from frets.com very helpful -http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/Musician/Guitar/ToneWoods/tonewoods1.html. If you read through (and click on the bottom of the page "more") there's a lot of helpful descriptions of woods. Ellen

Members t60 fan Posted December 30, 2006 Members Posted December 30, 2006 To my ears, Tazmanian Blackwood sounds like mahogany with the ends of the eq boosted up, especially the bass side. I love it.
