I'm ready for a change. And experimenting with different sounds. Know of any internet sites at which I can download tunes?

I don't mean professional stuff. I mean somebody's cousin who isn't half-bad.

Hey! Pandora.com is cool!

It asked me for an artist, and since I'm fingerpicker, I said "Chet Atkins." It instantly delivered a radio broadcast of Atkins playing "Five Foot Two," then went into "Railroadin'" by steel guitarist Speedy West.

How very cool. Thanks, Nuppu!

Maybe you're not dying to go this route, but I've discovered a lot of great music on Myspace. They have a pretty thorough search engine of their music sites. You could search something like, Experimental/Pop music within 10 miles of your area code. I've found a lot of great bands and many of them have their music availible for free download.

Even if you don't have a myspace account, I believe you can search for and listen to music without one. Just go on to www.myspace.com and there'll be a little navigation bar near the top (usually underneath an ad of some sort). Click on "music" and from there you can make your search really specific by clicking on advanced search.
