Members Cldplytkmn Posted January 5, 2007 Members Posted January 5, 2007 I need to get some Pantone (PMS) color numbers for some graphic files... A)anybody good with graphic software that i can send the file to and they can pull the PMS numbers for me? B)is there an easy way to do this? i have a trial of Adobe In Design, but i don't know if it'll do it or not... getting this done tonight would be a huge added bonus...
Members fats Posted January 5, 2007 Members Posted January 5, 2007 I can do it - email the files to andy.mikula@gmail.com I'm not sure, but if I remember correctly, InDesign can't do it, for one reason or another.
Members kwakatak Posted January 6, 2007 Members Posted January 6, 2007 Nah - InDesign won't do that. It's just a layout program that you import the optimized graphics into. I'm not too good on color matching (got spoiled doing web design) but I have worked a few print projects in the past involving Pantone. I have Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS so I should be able to open them if you have no takers. What type of files are they?

Me too, small world, or a lot of printers. I have most of the above software plus Illustrator, Quark and PageMaker. What is the file extension (type)?
Members kwakatak Posted January 6, 2007 Members Posted January 6, 2007 OK, maybe you print shop guys would be better-suited for this then. As a designer I always did exactly what the print shop guys told me as far as with technical things. I'm the same way with guitars.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted January 7, 2007 Author Members Posted January 7, 2007 well i found one of the colors listed on one of my proofs, so that got me halfway there, and the other color wasn't terribly crucial, so i just looked up a PMS chart and guess... hope it turns out alright. Thanks for all the offers, I was getting pretty frustrated with the print house guys i'm using (still am) cause it seems like they could have done this without me having to figure out the PMS colors... They have the colors set up for "file A" and on "file B" i told them to use the dark brown from A for the background and the light color from A for the text on file B... he says "well we'll need the PMS numbers for the colors you want." WHAT? anyways, its the stuff for my cd, and i'm so done with waiting that i just guessed on an off white-ish color... again, thanks guys, had i needed it i'm sure you guys would have come through...

Members Cripes Posted January 7, 2007 Members Posted January 7, 2007 Post Minstrel Syndrome. I get it after every gig knowing I could have done better.
