Question about Maton Bg808

Just a quick question about the maton BG808 line...out of curiosity mostly.

I know the Tommy Emmanuel version has a very deep body, and apparantly a fantastic bass response for its size, but are any of the other BG808s like that?

I don't know. I read that the TE model of that guitar just has cosmetic changes and the initials CGP (certified guitar player) inlaid at the 12th frett. Otherwise the 125mm depth is standard on all Maton guitars. Their site has an interview with TE but nothing comes up about dimensional differences. The bass response you mention is one of the qualities of the BG808 guitars in general.

This is the website of a distributor in Italy. You might contact them.

there's a dealer here in knoxville that carries them... i've been there twice and played a bunch of em next to the seagulls that he stocks too, and without exception, i've preferred the seagulls.

No {censored}? I read Tommy's grandiose kudos about Maton in an interview on their site and he just talks them up one side and down the other and how he'll find them in stores while traveling and call back to the factory if he sees an issue with one. I went so far as to locate a dealer "near" me. Really wanted to play one. On the flip, I played a Seagull at a local Mom/Pop that has me thinking real hard.

i found all the matons i played to be very dry and crisp... just a bit too much TME... the 'gulls with their cedar tops really warmed me up compared to the matons... its kinda apples to onions, but i've yet to play a maton that made me 'get' their appeal.

*edit* i should add that a friend of an acquaintance has one and gigs with it and he's in love with it. sounds good at gigs, but i haven't played it.

i have a ebg808c (electric, cutaway, custom artist model) and love it. had it 4 years and it just keeps getting better. excellant bass response and loud for it's size. very comfortable, everyone who hears it loves the sound which is quite distinctive,

maybe not the guitar to go for if you're after the the lush jumbo/dread sound but a great instrument none the less:thu:
