Members Bitt81 Posted January 11, 2007 Members Posted January 11, 2007 Yesterday I watched a number of youtube videos of Pete Townshend and others playing Pinball Wizard. I got the left hand chording down but I can't seem to build the speed on my right hand strumming to play it right. Actually I can do it with my bare thumb but when I use a pick, I can't seem to get it. Any suggestions for building speed with my right hand strumming?

Any suggestions for building speed with my right hand strumming? the lighter pick will help, if you slow down the motion and gradually speed it up that will help too. other than that, there are no shortcuts. try and keep the motion in your wrist rather than your elbow; it's less movement you have to make which will enable you to do it faster and with less effort. whacking off might also build the right muscles too.
Members tiger roach Posted January 11, 2007 Members Posted January 11, 2007 I have been trying to get that tune down (off and on) for 25 years. Let's face it, Pete Townshend is a monster strummer.
Members Kap'n Posted January 11, 2007 Members Posted January 11, 2007 The trick to that one, is to work slowly at building the speed. That and think "Bo Diddley on Crack"
Members Bitt81 Posted January 12, 2007 Author Members Posted January 12, 2007 Thanks for the input. I guess it's just like most other performance issues...practice, practice, practice!!!!! I have tried the lighter pick but the tone changes (as should be expected). It really is in my technique not the pick.
