Members CA1977 Posted January 17, 2007 Members Posted January 17, 2007 Two years ago, I bought a Carvin Cobalt, C980MW to be exact, since everyone bragged about the Cobalts having low action and all. The action is good, but not as low as I
Members Cldplytkmn Posted January 17, 2007 Members Posted January 17, 2007 those atlas series guitars are great... the ones i've played at least... if your only gripe with your cobalt is the action, that can be remedied. But if it is a convenient excuse to succumb to the GAS, then by all means...
Members Cripes Posted January 18, 2007 Members Posted January 18, 2007 Here, here. I have a Breedlove and I'm a skeptic. Thing pisses me off because I can't find anything wrong with it.
Members RKW Posted January 18, 2007 Members Posted January 18, 2007 I advise you to get your raggety ass back down there and buy that guitar. I can count on one finger how many times I've been "blown away" by a guitar while shopping. I still wonder who got that Taylor 310 Koa in Santa Fe. It should have been mine dammit!

Members RKO Posted January 18, 2007 Members Posted January 18, 2007 Run, don't walk away from this guitar. Buying a Breedlove Atlas will NOT cure your GAS fo it. I bought one (AD200SM,) and now want to upgrade to a Breedlove Atlas cutaway with electronics. As if THAT was not bad enough, I also want to buy the Altas Nylon String guitar, whatever the model is. Do yourself a favor, go buy something you won't like.
Members CA1977 Posted January 18, 2007 Author Members Posted January 18, 2007 I'm still seriously thinking of it. After playing a jumbo on and off for the last 3 years, I think I actually like dreads better. Also, from the day I got my Cobalt, I thought the action was great until I played this Atlas at GC last week. I heard GC won't give you much for a trade in, how about Sam Ash or local mom & pop stores?
Members Cldplytkmn Posted January 18, 2007 Members Posted January 18, 2007 as to the trade... a mom n pop MIGHT give you a bit more than GC or SA, but none of them will give you what its worth. Best bet is selling it first, even if you have to do ebay.
Members Cripes Posted January 18, 2007 Members Posted January 18, 2007 What model do you own? Custom Shop Performance Series "Focus" (not the Ford) Concert model. Signed by Kim Breedlove his very own self. Cedar over R/W with the Baggs dual element. Very, very natural and sweet plugged but I can't get it to record worth a damn through a mic. Could be my soundcard going because the Larry OMV-09 recorded real nice but the last couple times I tried it didn't. So, I'm guessing soundcard. I bought a Studio Projects B-1 mic thinking the SM57 was maybe not the best mic for lots of overtones. But, the sound still tanked. I haven't changed the card yet. I bought a 24 bit to replace the 16 bit I suspect to be the problem. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with this Breedlove. As far as sound and quality build goes I think Breedlove is the silent majority - at least the Custom Shop stuff.
