Members MikeEdge Posted January 21, 2007 Members Posted January 21, 2007 I've been struggling to finally chose a suitable electric acoustic for me. For years I've been playing my old Yamaha FG411S, which is (sonically) the best guitar I've ever played (well-matured). Now I would like to get a very ecent amplified guitar. For a long time I couldn't decide - considering Epiphone Masterbil DR-500RE, Yamaha CPX900 and some Takamines. Then I came over this:http://www.zzounds.com/item--IBAEP9The features struck me immediatelly. I was able to find just two reviews which both praised the guitar very much (I don't trust HC user reviews much, though). It's solidbody in the first place. I have already heard Fishman AURA in action and it does sound very good to my ears, plus it comes with onboard tuner which is something I'd love to have. What do you guys think? I don't trust Ibanez acoustic too much - for me it has always been a manufacturer of shredding electrics. I play mostly fingerpicking, plus some flatpicking and occasional strumming.Thnak you so much in advance for your comments!

Members Hudman Posted January 22, 2007 Members Posted January 22, 2007 You are paying a lot for the extra bling on the fretboard. The Epi Masterbilt and Yamaha are better choices in my opinion. Especially, when you factor in the $1199.00 price tag on the Ibanez. There are better guitars out there for $1199.00.

Unfortunately, this is not something that is unique to Ibanez. IMO Martin's signature guitars are just as guilty of price bloat. That being said, if you're willing to spend $1200 on an acoustic/electric guitar based on its pickup system consider these: http://www.mguitar.com/guitars/choosing/guitars.php?p=s&g=6&m=000C-16RGTE%20AURAhttp://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/model.aspx?model=314-CE
Members MikeEdge Posted January 22, 2007 Author Members Posted January 22, 2007 I see - thanks for your comments. What do you think about Yamaha CPX900, then? I has a pickup system of its own... It's not solidbody, though. Is there any other affordable guitar with onboard Aura? I was considering EP9 because it is much cheaper than Taylor 314CE... But I hear you on the extra money paid for Vai's name on it? WOuld you help me with your suggestions? Thanks, I'm becoming a bit lost...
