Members Danocoustic Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 since they {censored}canned derivicus?
Members Danocoustic Posted January 29, 2007 Author Members Posted January 29, 2007 Chapelle, I assume. Who the hell is that?
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 since they {censored}canned derivicus? What happened to derivicus?
Members Danocoustic Posted January 29, 2007 Author Members Posted January 29, 2007 What happened to derivicus? He's been fired. And I don't like it one little bit.
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 He's been fired. And I don't like it one little bit. Hadn't heard...any idea what he cas fired for? Guess he could always pull a "Hoddy"...
Members Danocoustic Posted January 29, 2007 Author Members Posted January 29, 2007 Hadn't heard...any idea what he cas fired for?Guess he could always pull a "Hoddy"... He's got a thread up on Guitar Jam about it. Seems he fell out of favor with the new regime. He's still a member, just no longer a moderator.

Members Danocoustic Posted January 29, 2007 Author Members Posted January 29, 2007 {censored}. Kinda worries me to wonder what someone's gotta do to stay in favor with the new regime. I've been here a little longer, and I've seen some changes go down on HC that make me very unhappy. This is just the latest. I do not trust them, knock. Not at all.
Members t60 fan Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 They are all caught up in a battle of some ultra left radical posters and their relentless attack on anything D said or did. So the higher ups gave the weinnies their wishes and turned on Derivicus. I'm pissed right now and need to calm down, but I think I'm done contributing at HC. Just super, management. edit: I suggest some of you accoustic forum regulars venture over to Guitar Jam and check out this thread:http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1519645
Members theGOOCH Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 I don't know the guy well but he always seemed first to be obnoxious or start an argument

I, for one, would miss you. This is OUR community. Dig?
Members t60 fan Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 Naw, don't go. I, for one, would miss you. This is OUR community.Dig? Thanks, I appreciate the thought. It really does irk me, I saw Derivicus practically begging those guys not to force him to take action as a mod, and this is how HC backs their own? Sorry, but its bull{censored}.

Members Whalebot Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 I don't know the guy well but he always seemed first to be obnoxious or start an argument I'll second that. But he was a good Moderator.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 i honestly don't really care... i've got no beef with D, we've had disagreements, and agreements... but its not like this forum needs much moderation. We just need somebody to pop in and delete spam every once in a while. HCAG belongs to its regulars, just like any forum...
Members Hudman Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 Derivicous is gone because of the "The Political Party" forum. Further proof that politics have no business being on a musician website. I am very active in politics, but I see no need to discuss my political beliefs on Harmony Central. There are countless political discussion forums on the internet. Political debates don't go with "harmony". They usually end up in flame wars and heated personal attacks. We should focus on the thing we all have in common: Our love of music. I like the people here and I accept the fact that all of us don't share the same political beliefs. Why argue about it? Live and let live.

Members kwakatak Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 Damn, now we're NEVER gonna get those stickies!
Members Krash Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 Getting a bad case of deja vu. When I first got back to playing a few years ago, I spent a lot of time at guitar.com. Good boards - active, lot of good people, big help in setting up my gear. Then the site changed hands, some of the mods got bitchy, the site got badly hacked a couple of times (probably by a disgruntled member), and eventually most of the regulars left. The site is gone - been in the process of an endless upgrade for over a year - but the boards have been running. Very little traffic, just a few morons complaining about site, the boards, and each other. Hope that doesn't happen here.
Members knockwood Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 I don't know the guy well but he always seemed first to be obnoxious or start an argument I totally understand the vibe I think you're alluding to, but it is ultimately a false read. A while back I tripped on the same impression, responded in the same vein, wouldn't let up, got myself kicked out of the forum by D. Subsequently, I realized my impression of the guy was full of {censored} and that you can't take the character of a man who's been walking the earth for several decades and hope to capture it in a few online posts. That was my error. Like many of us, the guy holds some opinions with pretty strong conviction that may seem objectionable to some - but then, whose opinions aren't objectionable to "some"? It might be argued that a mod actively participating in discussions may lead to a conflict of interest. I would tend to agree, UNLESS the mod in question happens to be smart enough and fair enough to distinguish between personal conviction and responsibility as a mod; Derivicus is, IMHO, clearly both. Try not to judge the cat too harshly. T60,Don't go, man. Your leaving would only add injury to insult.
Members Cripes Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 I also had a couple push-fights with D that went on to the PM level and the one-on-one was good medicine. He's okay by me.

I'm not trying to bash him or say he's a bad person.. hell he might be the greatest guy in the world for all I know. I'm just saying you have to behave with some professionalism when you are a mod. I've worked directly and indirectly in customer service over the years and I wouldn't want someone representing me if they had the abrasive and argumentative attitude I sometimes saw from him. It also seems he would ban someone solely based on whether they directly pissed him off while letting trolls run amok for weeks.
Members Dave W. Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 I never go outside of AG, so it was quite an eyeful to read through the Derivicous thread. There are some odd creatures out there in OJ and the like, some with way too much time on their hands. AG will be fine, as it is under the radar of things that concern management. Except for the odd troll that stumbles in here, we are mostly unknown to the rest of the site. There is no need to go anywhere, AG is the sum of it's members. Unless bandwidth becomes an issue, management will leave us off in our quiet little corner. It is a slap in the face to a volunteer to be shown the door. In the year and a half I have been here, I have not seen enough of him to have a knowledgeable opinion on the situation, but it is a thankless job. Derivicous, thanks for taking out the garbage these years.
Members Burningleaves Posted January 29, 2007 Members Posted January 29, 2007 I dont post alot here but my impression of the AG' section of HC is that it pretty much mods itself.
