Members 2ifbyC Posted February 3, 2007 Members Posted February 3, 2007 Today I dropped in on a local pawn shop just to scratch an itch. Lo and behold, there hung a Fender DG7 and a Washburn D-12CE-12/N. Tags said $350 each. WHOA, no way for the DG7! But that WB kept calling out to me. I came home and spent the afternoon scouring the web. I didn't find much info at all . Went back and let the gent know that his Fender was way over priced. He said $250 and it's mine. "It's a Fender. Somebody will buy it" . Nopper, not me, for a $100 git. I pointed out that the WB batt and D.I. (what's that? 3 pins) covers were missing. I did get the acous-elect WB for $150 out-da-door! I'm so stoked... I think it's an early 90s and in great shape. Now who has any info on this 'handful'l? I'd love to find replacement covers and bridge. Any string recommendations for a 25 year hiatus, small handed ol' fart? TIA!
Members KATMAN Posted February 3, 2007 Members Posted February 3, 2007 Any string recommendations for a 25 year hiatus, small handed ol' fart?TIA! I'd get some D'Adarrio's light gauge set. Great find, too. Some worthy advise,if you want it,is to keep the twelve string tuned to half step down or better yet, a whole step down.By keeping it tuned down a whole step,it'll save a lot of tension off the bridge.Plus,it will help your fingers out too.Capo at the 2nd fret and you're in standard.A lot of older folkies did this when using a 12 string.Nice to have you aboard here!
Members 2ifbyC Posted February 3, 2007 Author Members Posted February 3, 2007 Katman, Thanx for the info. I had planned on an Eb tuning. I'll try a whole step down as long as I don't get buzz. Today I'll excecute the 'Sick' stickey and determine what my next step will be. I do know that the low E and A will require attention eventually. The bridge is somewhat worn for those strings. My bridge has the six individual rests. Thanx again!
