Members LiveMusic Posted February 5, 2007 Members Posted February 5, 2007 I really don't know how to describe it; all I know is that my Takamine EG240, a $270 geetar, is VERY different from my Carvin Cobalt jumbo 780. The Carvin has what I call a "sweet" sound. The Tak has much more bottom to me. Earthy. I like the sound that emphasizes the bottom. A Martin? Anyway, if you listen to a bit of this streaming song link, you can hear the Tak. (I know very little about recording, so, bear that in mind. This was recorded with sm57 mic.) I am wondering what type of string you would recommend to enhance the bottom. Or any comment you have, even about the song!
Members Queequeg Posted February 5, 2007 Members Posted February 5, 2007 you could try a heavier set of strings or a custom set with heavier gauge strings on the low end (such as 56 for the low E). then tune your guitar down a 1/2 step or more. it'll begin to growl instead of meow for you.
