Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 9, 2007 Members Posted February 9, 2007 I made a quick clip tonight for you guys... i only recorded with one guitar, so it won't serve as a comparisson to hog/spruce or rose/spruce or whatever... but i did a short piece fingerstyle (see you soon by coldplay), some light strumming (a song i'm working on), and some heavier strumming (devils and dust by da BOSS [which i couldn't resist singing on {don't worry i left the mic in the guitar position}]). Everything is clean and flat, i boosted the fingerpicking 3db to match up volume-wise. zero verb, zero eq, etc. here ya go... oh, the only mic differences were that on see you soon, i had the mic about 6 inches from the 12th fret, and the other two i had it about 12-15 (didn't have my yardstick handy). http://media.putfile.com/L05MT
Members knockwood Posted February 9, 2007 Members Posted February 9, 2007 Thanks for the GAS, Clip. Freakin' thing sounds fantastic.
Members Dan Hall Posted February 9, 2007 Members Posted February 9, 2007 Good Job Clip:I was somewhat surprised by the comments the other day from some who wanted to hear what an all hog guit would sound like. Your clip posts certainly haven't been hidden. The sound really is astonishing compared to the old LG-0s of the '50 and '60s. I went today (I know, my bad. Time to stop looking Dan) and played The Martin D-15 and a J-15 at the local. They really were sweet guitars. The one that tore me up the most though was the 000-18EC. Hot Damn! Gulp. Never mind, did I say that? Shuddup thou acquisitive heart. I sure liked what you put down this evening. I'm beginning to get a sense of your style and rhythms. Looking forward to the CD.
Members MattSkibaIsGOD Posted February 9, 2007 Members Posted February 9, 2007 wow. I am eagerly awaiting my first all hog. Alvarez RF20SM. nice clip. EDIT: nice vox too.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 9, 2007 Author Members Posted February 9, 2007 right after you buy a new one is when you want another the most... ESPECIALLY if you're waiting for the first one in transit... its a rough time... developing expectations, fear that they're unfounded... you're in acoustic hell right now, my condolances. i don't generally post acoustic clips per se... i'm generally more concerned with the vocal and lyrics, etc... so i can understand the comments... i forgot to mention that the strings are an hour old at the time of recording, they're 80/20 Martin SPs (store was out of PB)... in two days they'll sound fantastic, still a bit brash right now.
Members MattSkibaIsGOD Posted February 9, 2007 Members Posted February 9, 2007 i thought it all sounded great! So, you said your focus is on vocals and lyrics, are you a singer-songwriter type?
Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 9, 2007 Author Members Posted February 9, 2007 yes, by some definitions (the loose ones) i could be called a s/s... i'm picky about my guitars, but when i post clips here they're generally just my song demos, etc... so they aren't always indicative of the guitars tone.
Members MattSkibaIsGOD Posted February 9, 2007 Members Posted February 9, 2007 well, if you go down that path, i think you'd do great.
