Well, being pretty new at getting guitars set up and learning proper maintenance, etc., I was pretty jazzed when I got my Gibson and Ibanez back from Brian over Gryphon Instruments. I posted kudos because he's just a great guy to work with. Well late yesterday I picked up my old Ibanez dread and realized without completely changing my fingering method I was creating awful sounding string buzz on the upper two strings. (Lower pitch). Anyway, not wanting to cast any doubt on anyones ability I emailed Freeman K. and asked his opinion. (Thanks FK). Anyway, I was on my way down to Gryphon's to pick up a third guitar he was working on, so I took the Ibanez. After getting a case for the Ibanez I asked Brian what he thought. He strummed it a few times, said "Hmmm, might be a hair buzzy". Walked back to his shop, did a quick adjustment, and I'm happy as the proverbial clam.

I just made sure to post this to maybe help some other inexperienced guy like myself find an answer prior to going thru the situation. Trust your repair guy and let him know your problems. They will be glad to help you.

Gryphon Instruments rocks, and Brian and Alex down there have my complete trust. Hard for an old dog to trust these young whippersnappers, but these young men are well trained. I ended up buying a new case for #2 Gibson too!:D

My new Lowden nylon string has a G string buzz that I will have looked at on Saturday morning when I go to get my OMC-21 back from major work.

But I was able to find an interesting thread on the Internet the other day, entitled The Buzz on Buzz after trying a search on Classical Guitar String Buzz.

Apparently, if your saddle buzzes it has been shaped too flat where the string lays. When you pluck the string hard the amplitude of the string makes it lift off the saddle to the rear bearing point and then the string comes back down on two points, the rear and front at about the same time, creating a buzz. This is what I'm hoping will be discovered on Saturday.

Very annoying buzz, open, fretted, detuned, the whole enchilada.
