Members berkeleybear Posted February 20, 2007 Members Posted February 20, 2007 I am looking to upgrade my Taylor Big Baby to a solid wood instrument in the $1500-2500 range. Here are some perameters... 1.) looking for a nice, dark, warm, rich tone, favoring a bassey output, but with balance throughout the spectrum.2.) no need for flair... I would like as much of my investment going into the tone and playability of the guitar. 3.) do not require massive volume, but I strum more than I fingerpick, typically in church small group setting (sound to fill a living room with 8-12 people in it is ideal).4.) Current interest in the blues, so anything that helps cultivate this style is a big plus. If you have wisdom to share, I would really appreciate it. I plan to keep this guitar for a long time, so I want to make the best possible choice. My initial thought is a Breedlove S class with Cedar top and Rosewood back and sides. I haven't found one in a store yet to play, but based on the perameters I gave, this seems like a good fit. But, of course, I am totally open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!
