Members SquierJosh Posted February 22, 2007 Members Posted February 22, 2007 Anyone have any experience with a Cort Earth 200-12? I played one at Music Go Round and I really liked the sound. They had $369 for the price (new, with warranty, etc). The scruffy dude behind the counter seemed to be very fond of Cort guitars, especially compared to the Oscar Schmidt 12 stringers that they had there for $319. http://www.cort.co.kr/english/products/acoustics/view.asp?product_id=37#
Members pgcorky Posted February 22, 2007 Members Posted February 22, 2007 Not familiar, but bought a bargain 12 string recently. Walden D552 - http://www.waldenguitars.com/steel/natura/D552.html. Check the reviews here - but for less than $300, it's excellent. Good luck!
Members smatel Posted February 22, 2007 Members Posted February 22, 2007 How do you get a good bottom end out of a 12 string?
Members Freeman Keller Posted February 22, 2007 Members Posted February 22, 2007 How do you get a good bottom end out of a 12 string? tune it to D (many players), C# (Kottke, Proctor), C (Leadbelly)
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted February 22, 2007 Members Posted February 22, 2007 How do you get a good bottom end out of a 12 string? Just buy a Guild...they come w/ a good bottom end!
Members babablowfish Posted February 22, 2007 Members Posted February 22, 2007 Corts are good guitars that are starting to get the respect and name-recognition that they deserve.
Members Tony Burns Posted February 22, 2007 Members Posted February 22, 2007 Corts and Carvin acoustics are super instruments for the money , Gad Guilds are also up their -
Members Cortfan Posted February 22, 2007 Members Posted February 22, 2007 Cort makes the Carvin Cobalt series acoustics. The Earth series have some very good specs and the Quality Control is usually excellent, but I always suggest to play it first.
Members learn'r Posted February 22, 2007 Members Posted February 22, 2007 I have a Cort 200GC and think I am very fortunate.Never had a 12 stringer though, always thought that was a lot of stress on a neck. I would counter offer on the shelf price though.
Members J. Posted February 23, 2007 Members Posted February 23, 2007 Do they even make the Earth series anymore or are all Cort acoustics under the "Parkwood" brand name?
Members babablowfish Posted February 23, 2007 Members Posted February 23, 2007 Do they even make the Earth series anymore or are all Cort acoustics under the "Parkwood" brand name? It may no longer be true, but last time I checked, the Parkwood line was sold exclusively through GC.
Members denvertrakker Posted February 23, 2007 Members Posted February 23, 2007 Do they even make the Earth series anymore or are all Cort acoustics under the "Parkwood" brand name? Earth is definitely still part of the Cort line, though it's a bit hard to find in the US, and the line has been rearranged a bit. Cort in general, and Earth in particular, seems to be much more readily available in places like Australia and Europe. The Parkwood line exists as part of Cort everywhere except here, where it's sold exclusively by GC.
Members zacharry Posted February 23, 2007 Members Posted February 23, 2007 i was unimpressed with a cort that i played last weekend. it may have just been me. generally, i think that it's difficult to get a strong low end on a twelve string. but to redirect what fk mentioned... low open tunings on twelves are fantastic. i'm a big fan of open C on mine. also. i'm going to try to go with a set of strings that has the bottom four strings bronze wound. usually you have Ew-E2w-Aw-A2-Dw-D2-Gw-G2-B-B-e-eif you can find a pair of heavys or a heavier brand of mediums, you can make it so tat the normal E-size strings are at the A...i'm hoping that gets me what i want. if one does this, i imagine that it would be very important to keep the guitar tuned down, seeing as that would probably increase the neck tension.
