Members dinosaur jm Posted February 24, 2007 Members Posted February 24, 2007 hi all, my first (and only) acoustic is really imposiblle to play. the tension is too high and its weird, any ideas on how to fix this?
Members Hudman Posted February 24, 2007 Members Posted February 24, 2007 What kind is it? How old are the strings? Old strings will feel stiff. Keep in mind that acoustic guitars feel a lot more stiff than electric guitars.
Members T.B. Posted February 24, 2007 Members Posted February 24, 2007 JM, read Mr. Freeman's Keller thread, "Is My Guitar Sick" ? Invaluable information that should answer most of your questions. Has your guitar been examined by a Guitar tech? He or she can tell you if you need a set-up or if your guitar has more serious issues/problems. Trina
Members hippohumper Posted February 25, 2007 Members Posted February 25, 2007 Try adjusting the action?

Members Tony Burns Posted February 25, 2007 Members Posted February 25, 2007 depends on how cheap your guitar is - if its one of those estaban's id probably just have a nice fire waiting for it - most decent luthiers refuse to work on those - they cost more to fix than their worth - most luthiers wont charge you that much to adjust your neck , set the tonation etc. - look into it before you sell it at a garage sale - setting up a cheap guitar is not a bad idea, it always nice to have a beater when you buy a better one, for camping etc.
Members Noise... Posted February 25, 2007 Members Posted February 25, 2007 Take it and have it looked at. I thought my Washburn D10s was just not a comfortable guitar for me, and I was planning on selling it yesterday. I figured I'll stop by this one shop I know of and have them look at it first. The guy adjusted the truss rod and sanded the bridge down, and in a few short minutes the guitar played like butter. So, my suggestion is take it and get it at least looked at.
