Members RKW Posted February 25, 2007 Members Posted February 25, 2007 The good: Solid, but very light. Gorgeous. Hard to put down. Baggs Element system sounds good. Sounds neither like a Taylor or a Martin to me, but others say it's slightly Martinesque (I'll change out the mystery strings and get back to you on that). The case is Cadillac. The bad: Nuttin yet The butt ugly I ordered a AJ-500ME and got a AJ-500MENS. NS = New Second. Still has the same warranty and I'm yet unable to find anything wrong, but hey, is this the way you do bees-knees Music123? Not a deal breaker, after all, it was $100.00 less than I could mail order it elsewhere. I have 45 days to decide. They pre-pay all returns. I'm out nothing. Did I mention that it's gorgeous? Pics later
Members Kalebmation Posted February 25, 2007 Members Posted February 25, 2007 I love my AJ-500R! If I need a pickup system, I'm going to get one installed later. I bought mine at GC for $560, so not a horrible price. Here's a picture...
Members DonK Posted February 25, 2007 Members Posted February 25, 2007 Congratulations. I've been ruminating on getting one of those. I'm confused about one thing: did you not know you were getting a second when you ordered it? The link in your post doesn't appear to be for a second... ($549).

That was the exact ad I bought the guitar off. So, no, I had no idea. In fact the more I think about it, the more I think I'll just call them up and have them ship me another one that's not a second. That's probably the best way to handle this.
Members mrmoe Posted February 25, 2007 Members Posted February 25, 2007 Where is the Masterbilt built?
Members guitarcapo Posted February 25, 2007 Members Posted February 25, 2007 Are you sure that the warranty still works if it's a "second"? Could be bull{censored} if you are just taking the store's word on it.

Could be bull{censored} if you are just taking the store's word on it. At this point I'm having my doubts that it's actually a second. Originally I found one google reference to an AJ-500MENS as a second. Now wwjd states the NS=Natural Satin. Kalebmation, what does your label say?
Members RKW Posted February 26, 2007 Author Members Posted February 26, 2007 My Epi came with 12's (I think). I don't like what's on it. I want to change the strings out and go to 11's. Any recommendations? Also, if I go lighter, that will lower the action? Is that right?
Members kwakatak Posted February 26, 2007 Members Posted February 26, 2007 According to a recent review of another model Masterbilt (EF-500RANS I believe) in Fingerstyle Guitar magazine "NS" stands for natural satin. That basically means that instead of giving the top a sunburst finish with gloss, they left it alone and gave it a satin finish.
