Members guitarist21 Posted February 26, 2007 Members Posted February 26, 2007 Two acoustic (sort of) performances in a row: James Taylor and Melissa Etheridge. What'd you think? I thought James Taylor looked a little tired, but he had a sweet guitar. Was that a Bourgeouis? I think so. Melissa Etheridge... was using an Ovation 12. Probably an Adamas, actually.

James and Randy both looked a bit uncomfortable...and distracted. Don't know why THAT was. I believe James was playing one his Olsons.

Taylor is soooo laid back. Sometimes it seems like he may just nod off. As far as Melissa Etheridge goes, it seems like she has been singing the same song with different lyrics for her whole career. There seems to be minimal variation in any melodies or instrumentation.
Members Queequeg Posted February 26, 2007 Members Posted February 26, 2007 I didnt see it but JT almost always plays Olsons (Melissa Etheridge doesn't inspire or do much for me.) I saw her live once with her Ovation, and that money was clearly wasted. But she was opening for Steely Dan, so on average, it was a pretty good nightI just can't watch any of those awards shows. Including grammys.I know, I am the original and official HC curmudgeon's curmudgeon, but I find all those things entirely intolerable. What gown is she wearing? Who is he sitting with? Who is she dating? Punctuated by one nauseating commercial after another.I have a life, and it doesn't make time for Hollywood in any of its myriad iterations.I want to thank the waitress who didnt spill coffee on me so many, many years ago, and I wanna thank my babysitter Blanche who used to sing You Are So Beautiful to me at bedtime like she really meant it, and the school crossing guard at Oakmont Elementary, and the priest @ St Raphael's who never molested me, the janitor who always has a full roll at the ready, and, and...
Members bigby Posted February 26, 2007 Members Posted February 26, 2007 I didn't get to catch any of the show last night but I do usually check out some of the musical award shows (grammies and such). Like many, I could care less about the actual awards and pretty much flip channels during the award speeches; but I just like seeing any music performed; even if it's not my normal cup of tea. I'm a junky; plain and simple.

Members denvertrakker Posted February 26, 2007 Members Posted February 26, 2007 Turn off your television. Or better yet, kill your television. Play your guitar "Blow up your T.V., throw away your paper, Go to the country, build you a home. Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches, Try and find Jesus on your own." I always liked that song...
