Hello Everyone!

I came across a guitar online for $139 with $40 shipping, but it doesn';t seem to show the name I think it's a "Gitano" I'm a newbie to musical instruments but my boyfriend wants to get an acoustic-electric pink guitar for his little sister & I was helping him find one. I was just wondering what you guys thought about this one and could let me know ASAP. The auction listing doesn't say who makes it, it just says MSRP $325. Is this a scam? Is it worth it? Can anyone recommend anything better,..preferably in pink! lol?

It also says "This guitar is USA designed & beautifully made. It has a SPRUCE top, with SOLID MAHOGANY NECK and selected rosewood fingerboard & bridge.

Check out its color purfling on the body and pearl inlay on the fingerboard!

Excellent quality craftmanship and great sound! Easy to play and comfortable on your fingers! Beautiful guitar that will surely stands out as you play."

I'll attach a photo.

Thanks in advance,

I don't know what the heck that is, so I couldn't tell you if it was a scam or not.

The leader in pink guitars nowadays is Daisy Rock Guitars. Conveniently for your boyfriend's sister, they are made for girls! The make a line of guitars called "Wildwood" that usually sells for under $200 at places like Sam Ash. I've not seen them readily in stock and you may have to order one.

The only requirement you give is "preferably pink!" and I'm sorry to say, crinklecut, that kind of limits your options. There are many guitars for beginners that are the same price as the Daisy Rock Wildwood acoustics, but are much better. Some guitar makers that have good acoustics in that price range are Yamaha, Washburn, and Art & Luthiere.

Daisy Rocks are not terrible guitars (I've played a couple), its just that there are better ones to be had. Depending on how little your boyfriend's sister is, it may not even matter. I started off very young on a (somewhat crappy) guitar from the department store and I'm still playing today with no real damage to my playing as a result of that guitar.

Moral: if you need pink, I'd suggest ordering a Daisy Rock guitar. They are not terrible. If a more solid guitar turns out to be more important, I suggest looking at Yamaha, Washburn, and Art & Luthiere. Hope this helps!

I have seen Gitano guitars for sale in Beijing China, they seem to be similar to Starsun models I have also seen over there. Quality seems good for the price, but as with most Chinese guitars, you might have to kiss a few frogs before you find the princess.
