Members T Rice Posted March 11, 2007 Members Posted March 11, 2007 I have not had much luck with Acoustic guitar amps.My question is this; In lieu of an acoustic amp, would a small P.A used soley for my guitar( such as the Yamaha Stagepass 300 for example) be a viable alternative? I 've had my Epi Emporer Regent for quite a while now. Love the guitar and it has a great acoustic archtop sound using GHS White Phospher strings. I bought it with it covering my Acoustic and Electric needs in mind but I've never been able to make it sound right through any amp.A few nights ago I played ata friends house with his band and as I had sold my amp,I played straight through the PA.The setup was Guitar( Epi Regent)>Boss ME 50>PA.It sounded amazing. Surrounded by open mics, amps,PA equipment and tons of live gear there was absolutly no feedback.I was able to play through all the patches on the ME 50 as well(mostly patched for electric)with no feedback. Would this be an unorthadox stage rig? Too much gear for one musician in a band setting? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appriciated. Thank you in advance,T Rice
Members Mikeo Posted March 11, 2007 Members Posted March 11, 2007 There's a couple of nice amo choices out there for the acoustic. Fishman Loud Box 130 and 100' s a nice SWR CA blonde The house PA is alwasy a fine choice
Members RainsongDR1000 Posted March 11, 2007 Members Posted March 11, 2007 I've always felt a small PA sounded better to comparatively priced acoustic amps. Yes, I think the Yamaha Stagepas would be a viable, and even preferable, alternative to an acoustic amp.
Members guitarist21 Posted March 11, 2007 Members Posted March 11, 2007 I haven't owned an acoustic amp for several years. I prefer bass amps. Ellen

A lot of players, including myself, like using one or two powered PA speakers. This kind of setup offers a lot of flexability and projection. My current rig is to use an Audix i5 mic into a Nanoverb for reverb, to control volume, and to split the signal left and right if I
Members AugTPD Posted March 11, 2007 Members Posted March 11, 2007 I personally use an acoustic amp, but I know some out there actually prefer to use keyboard amps. I've never tried one, but I think one would work ok.
