The outside has a protective finish, the inside does not. 1) So the split starts inside, right? 2) My guitar is new. Do I need to do any sort of preventive treatment to the finish?

Members Hudman Posted March 14, 2007 Members Posted March 14, 2007 1. Yes, cracks normally start from the inside. That is why they sell soundhole humidifiers. 2. The only way to prevent humidty problems is through humidity control. Guitar polish / wax helps prevent scratches and reduce wear on the guitar body.
