Members BogoEN Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 I have a 7 year old fender DG20Ce and am about to buy a new guitar, as I have outgrown this guitar and need something that sounds more professional. However, I thought before I buy a new one, I should at least upgrade this guy and fix a problem its been having. The G string has popped twice in the last month (a real pain in a town where no one sells individual strings) and the local shop said that that is a particular problem, most likely somewhere at the tuner head. THey reccomended taking it to someone to fix, and that it was a snap to deal with. After this I thought why couldn't I fix it. I later remembered and and it is still the case that the G tuner head sits loose, even when i tighten the nut around it. Its been this way since i bought it, didn't think much of it. I was also considering buying a new saddle, nut and pins. Any advice would be great. Thanks
Members guit30 Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 How does the preamp and pickup on this guitar sound? I used to have a 96 Fender DG20S, which I really liked, did some recording with it, the song on my signature was recorded on the DG20S with Martin SP 80/20 medium gauge strings. I had it set up and added bone nut and saddle, I eventually sold it because I couldn't play for a while due to my cervical Stenosis. They are not bad guitars. Very Sturdy. I have an Alvarez RD20S now which was actually cheaper than the Fender, The Alvarez has a better neck for me and the grain on the solid top is a lot tighter. The Alvarez is Chinese and a lot more tempermental. Why don't you get a pro set up if you like the sound, it will really make it nicerJim
