Members 55gibby Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 A FREAKING MAZING Holy cow.... I'm going to go burn my guitars now
Members peteloaf Posted March 15, 2007 Author Members Posted March 15, 2007 look him up on youtube playing his harp guitar... that REALLY takes the piss! legend.
Members 55gibby Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 I showed that to my son.... I'll be adding his guitars to the burn barrel as well Kinda makes me feel like when I sat in the second row for a Segovia concert. Amazing to watch, but it destroyed my confidence (not much to destroy). I saw Segovia on my 20th birthday (as a gift), I didn't pick up a guitar for more than six months after that. I remember thinking "I can never play like that" and gave up playing for a while. I only play to annoy now, that won't stop my playing
Members Hudman Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 Yeah, Andy Mckee is great. He's been mentioned here several times. You should check out the record label he belongs to. They have other impressive guitarists. http://www.candyrat.com
Members drnihili Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 If you like the puercussive stuff, here's a harp guitar link with some of it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=f27megLOleQ&mode=related&search= And here's another harp guitar piece that I like better, but isn't as fun and interesting to watch.
Members bigby Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 Pretty cool stuff...interesting...not something I'd listen to more than on a couple occassions for a few minutes. Reminds me of Billy Sheehan on bass...wow, look what that guy can do! Ok, next.....
Members simplygoodmusic Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 I don't get what the big deal with this guy is, to be frank. I've seen this video posted in just about every guitar forum, acoustic or otherwise... but I just don't get it. It sounds pretty cool, but it lacks the "umpf" to make it interesting or fun to listen to. Technically what the guy is doing is not incredibly hard either. Tune your guitar to an open tuning, position your hands in the same way...and walla. But I guess if it makes you feel good, its all that matters.
Members drnihili Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 It sounds pretty cool, but it lacks the "umpf" to make it interesting or fun to listen to. It's music that is driven by texture rather than melody or rhythm. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but then what music is? I think of it as the musical equivalent of expressionism.

Members simplygoodmusic Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 I am not saying its easy. God knows I can't do it! But if you give it a shot, you might find yourself getting the gist...and the whole thing just loses its "wow" factor. Its just not incredibly appealing to me. Yeah, its cool, but nothing out the ordinary.

People sometimes tend to forget that music's a subjective sport.
