Members stefonroman Posted March 15, 2007 Members Posted March 15, 2007 so based on the advice of many members I purchased the baggs preamp...thanks awesome product, sound is amazing. I run a live setup consisting of a yamaha non-power mixer and two yorville powered amps. I understand to run the di from the guitar to the mixer, but, how do I set the mixer so that I receive my eq's from the baggs unit. thanks

You'll actually be getting EQ from both the PADI and the mixer, but you , of course, have the option of running the mixer'schannel EQ "flat".

Members Terry Allan Hall Posted March 20, 2007 Members Posted March 20, 2007 Hey, TAH, got the cows fed? Only one actual bovine ("T-bone" the ancient but well-spoiled Longhorn that came w/ the property), but many sheep, goats, 4 capybaras, a llama, 4 horses we babysit and a lot of rabbits, cavies, chickens, ducks, geese and a few tortoises... ) Do you ever think the above setup is too cluttered, you know it's a lot easier to use an amp. My set-up: solo (busking or audiences under 30 or so): Guitar/vocal mic -> Crate Taxi solo (audiences over 30 or so): Guitar -> PADI -> Powered mixer -> cabs and monitor Vocal/harmonica mic -> Powered mixer -> cabs and monitor Trio: Guitar -> PADI -> pedal board (Dano auto-wah -> Boss HM-2 -> Boss Super Phazer -> Boss Phaser -> Boss Flanger -> Dano Chorus -> Dano Digital Delay -> ShoBud volume pedal -> Boss Harmonizer -> Boss DD-7) -> amp (only if working w/ less skillful drummer) or PA Vocal/harmonica mic -> Powered mixer -> cabs and monitor No, it's not too cluttered if you want to sound "pro".
Members kkyle Posted March 21, 2007 Members Posted March 21, 2007 So...small audiences, you sometimes use just an amp. I don't have one, just a small p.a., thinking of getting one. BTW-Hookem T-Bone (long lost cousin of Bevo)!

BTW-Hookem T-Bone (long lost cousin of Bevo)! Yup...The Crate Taxi 30 is a great little "mini-PA"...Channel 1 is optimized for vocal mics (a Shure SM-58 works great!), Channel 2 is optimized for plugged-in instruments and if your guitar has a passive P/U, it has a button to push that activates a piezo-oriented preamp. Once charged up, the internal 12v battery is good for about 4-5 hours, I've found. I've got the older wood-bodied model and my fiddle/mandolin playing buddy, John, has the new injection-molded version, which is a little lighter in the hand...both sound very clean and clear, so if you ever need some "raunch" for electric guitar, you'll need a stomp-box, I guess...or one of the original Pignose amps. Crate also makes a 15-watt version, but I've never used one of those and can't, therefore, tell you much about it, other than to say I often run my 30-watter at about 1/2 volume before the mic channel starts feeding back, so possibly the 15-watter might lack headroom...try both before buying. BTW, there's also a 50-watt version (The "Limo")...more expensive, but it does have built-in FX. Another option, of course, is a battery pack, like constructrion workers use, to plug your small PA into.
