Members fuzzylogic220 Posted March 18, 2007 Members Posted March 18, 2007 anyone else think these things kick major "donky" for the price.
Members KATMAN Posted March 18, 2007 Members Posted March 18, 2007 I've played one at a local music store.I thought that for $350,a solid wood guitar, beat the price and the playablity of a Epiphone Masterbuilt. But everyone is different. If I was to buy another solid wood guitar,it would be a Walden.
Members pds617 Posted March 18, 2007 Members Posted March 18, 2007 I recently purchased a G570 with a Solid Cedar top & Lam Hog back/sides, and I'm very happy with it. The tone and build quality is quite good and it makes these guitars a great value. I was first introduced to the brand by a College Music Instructor. He uses a G570e to teach his classes and he makes it sing. If you get a chance give them them a try, I'm sure you won't disappointed.
Members Faheyfan Posted March 18, 2007 Members Posted March 18, 2007 Bought and sold a Walden in one day last week. I've been looking around for a cedar top fairly cheap guitar for a while, thinking Walden or Epi Masterbilt but hadn't played either. Saw on ebay a new demo g2070, Walden's top of the line auditorium, all solid mahogany & cedar for $450. 1 3/4" nut By far the best price I'd seen. So I ordered it.Started playing it late one night and was VERY impressed with the sound. But I was really tired after a 12 hour day and was playing like garbage, buzzing strings everywhere. Picked it up the next afternoon and kept thinking, this thing sounds great! Hell this thing sounds terrific for $1000! But I was still buzzing strings. Finally realized the nut was 1 11/16, just what I was avoiding. It was an 05 before they changed the nut size. The ad was wrong. Now I'm in a real quandry. I think this might be the bargain of the year but I don't like the nut size. Return it, keep it? A friend of mine drops by to play it that afternoon. It was the Lowden 032 he owned when he lived with my wife and I a few years ago that got me thinking about cedar. He loves, and I mean loves the guitar. Says if he saw it in a store for $1200 he'd think it was a good price. Tells me it's not going back, especially at that price and buys it from me on the spot. So he got the deal of the year. But we both agree. Waldens kick donkey. Could not believe a guitar at that price could sound that good.
Members johbren Posted March 18, 2007 Members Posted March 18, 2007 I also have a G2070 and for the price my oh my you cant beat them. mine was a factory second and it has the best I can measure a 1.72 wide nut. I prefer 1.75 or wider but for paying 199 cestercies for an all solid wood top back and sides guitar that sounds great. action is perfect ya cant beat it. Bone nut and saddle also. Mine has no string buzz a small turn of the truss rod will cure that problem.
Members Tony Burns Posted March 18, 2007 Members Posted March 18, 2007 I think that is one beautiful guitar - betting it has great sound !
Members drnihili Posted March 18, 2007 Members Posted March 18, 2007 I had a D740, then upgraded to a G2070 with a 1.75 nut. Awesome guitars. Much better than anything else anywhere near the price, and least to my humble beginner ears. Gonna put some sunbeams on the 2070 today and see how that makes her sing.
Members T.B. Posted March 18, 2007 Members Posted March 18, 2007 A guy was suppose to buy my Walden G-730 (cedar/rosewood) last winter, he reneged. Lucky for me, getting rid of that guitar would've been a mistake. Trina
Members DeepEnd Posted March 19, 2007 Members Posted March 19, 2007 . . . Now I'm in a real quandry. I think this might be the bargain of the year but I don't like the nut size. Return it, keep it? . . . I'm going to say "return it." As sweet as it is, if you can't play the guitar, it does you no good, even if it cost 50 cents. Go back to the old drawing board and keep looking for an '06.

Members MattSkibaIsGOD Posted March 21, 2007 Members Posted March 21, 2007 I got mine through ebay. I have a G570 that I love. I think Walden is a great choice.
Members drnihili Posted March 21, 2007 Members Posted March 21, 2007 Well there are some real good folks on ebay, boyntonproaudio is quite reputable. I bought my g2070 from the brick and mortar version of www.theacousticmusician.com . They were great in person, I can't vouch for their onlilne character. Google should help you find some others.
Members MattSkibaIsGOD Posted March 21, 2007 Members Posted March 21, 2007 ^ boynton pro audio is where I got mine. good seller.
