Members guit30 Posted March 19, 2007 Members Posted March 19, 2007 Well, I have been checking the guitar every week and filling the Planet waves and rewetting my sponge, managing to keep the case humidity between 45 and 50%. Last night I was a bit upset at what I saw when I opened the case, the relief had dropped. I talked to my luthier today and he said that I was doing all of the right things, He said to tune it up to pitch, could bring the relief back. I didn't tune it down, but I haven't tuned the guitar since i started hydrating it. Frets are still sharp, action is up to normal all around.JimPS- I've read others say their planet waves humidifier starts to change color after a while, I noticed mine has started turning white
Members guit30 Posted March 20, 2007 Author Members Posted March 20, 2007 Well, last night I was planning to adjust the trussrod and see if I could get the relief back. To my surprise I guess that tuning it to pitch and letting it sit brought back the relief. I would like to get this baby fixed so I can sell it or trade it in on a 000 guitar, suggestions for $300 or so welcome. Johnson makes a herringbone 000 with Fishman electronics for about 220 on Fretstore.com, that is a nice siteJimPS-also considering a Blueridge Br-43 (found one for $266), cheap price, I could go to MF and get a price match and get one with a case ,want something easier on my back and neck than a dread

Members drnihili Posted March 20, 2007 Members Posted March 20, 2007 lime deposits from your tap water. I've started noticing it a bit too. It's not lime, I use de-ionized water. In another thread someone suggested that it was something from foam. It's nothing to worry about as near as I can tell.
Members Queequeg Posted March 20, 2007 Members Posted March 20, 2007 Deionization process utilizes specially-manufactured ion exchange resins which remove ionized salts from water and can theoretically remove 100% of salts. Deionization typically does not remove organics, virus or bacteria, except through
Members drnihili Posted March 20, 2007 Members Posted March 20, 2007 Yeah, that's why it goes through RO before it gets de-ionized. Also makes the de-ionization more efficient.
